Welcome to the EEWG Website.

The Eltham and Environs Walking Group (EEWG) was established in 2000. It evolved from the Eltham Living and Learning Centre and has grown to a membership of approximately 90 people within an age range of 50 to 78 years.

It became incorporated in 2002 and affiliated with Bushwalking Victoria in the same year.

The Group offers a range of walks from regular weekday walks to more extended walks, including monthly weekend day walks, regional extended trips, as well as some occasional interstate and overseas walks.

The weekday walks are scheduled for approximately 2 hours every Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Most members walk once or twice a week with the enthusiasts enjoying all three walks. In additions to the regular walks we also offer alternatives to some of the more difficult walks.  These are noted on the walks schedule.

Refreshments are usually taken at the end of each walk. With current restrictions we bring our own refreshments and we do not share.

Most walks start in Eltham or from a point no more than a 30 minutes drive from Eltham and some from Eltham itself. The walks are graded easy to moderate.  Walking routes are drawn from a list of over 150 walks, taking in rail, river and creek-side trails, national parks and nature reserves, suburban streets and country lanes. Many of the walks allow participants to enjoy the beauty of the Green Wedge close to Eltham as well as surrounding localities and further outlying areas.
