Exploratory Walk Wednesday 1st August Macleod

By | Explore Walk

Hi everyone

The exploratory walk on Wednesday 1 August will be in Macleod following a route that is similar for about half the distance to walk number 175. It is a circuit walk and will include Gresswell Habitat Link and Gresswell Forest Reserve, but not the La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary. The walk will start near Macleod Station. There are more details below.

Cheers

Chris

Wednesday 1 August, Exploratory Walk: Harry Pottage Reserve to Gresswell Forest, Macleod

Easy, 6.5 km, no car pooling, Mel 20 A7

Park in Glenmore St, Macleod, beside the reserve at the Wungan St end. There will be some cars belonging to railway commuters already parked there, but there should be enough spaces further along Glenmore St. Meet in Glenmore St beside the Harry Pottage Reserve at 9.30 am.

The walk will cross a couple of reserves not far from Macleod Station and then head through the Springthorpe Estate, passing the former Mont Park Psychiatric Hospital and following a lovely water feature known as The Cascade. We will then enter the Gresswell Habitat Link and the Gresswell Forest Reserve, and take a couple of tracks south through the forest reserve and exit through a southern gate onto Vincent St. From there the Dunvegan Parkland will lead us back to Glenmore St and the cars.

Coffee will be at Mr Macleod in Carwarp Street.
